Watson and Jackson Invited to Sharks Development Camp

The San Jose Sharks will host the team's annual Prospects Development Camp at Sharks Ice July 8th – 12th. On-ice workouts are scheduled to begin on Monday morning, July 8th. Michigan Tech will have captain senior defenseman Cliff Watson (D/Appleton, Wisc.) and sophomore Jake Jackson (F/Maplewood, Minn.) in attendance. The Prospects Development Camp roster is expected to include players in the Sharks system, players who have been drafted but not signed by the Sharks, and other non-roster camp invites.

Cliff Watson was elected by the Sharks in the sixth round (168th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Watson who has played in 117 career games with 27 total points on five goals and 22 assists. He has been named the Gitzen-Loutit Memorial Award winner as the team's top defensive player three times in a Huskies uniform. The San Jose Sharks draft pick posted two goals and 8 assists during 2015-16 with plus / minus of +10. A main stay on the back end has only missed one game since attending Michigan Tech.

Jackson, who is entering his second year with the Huskies, was selected by the Sharks in the seventh round (201st overall). He was featured in 11 games during his freshmen year with Michigan Tech. His first goal as a Husky came in the championship game of the Great Lakes Invitational vs Michigan. Prior to Michigan Tech, Jackson spent seasons with the Nanaimo Clippers of the BCHL (2014-15) and Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL (2013-14). He was a finalist for Mr. Hockey as a senior in Minnesota.
