Phillips on Richter Award, Hockey News Watch Lists

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech senior goaltender Jamie Phillips was named to a pair of watch lists today, adding to an already impressive list of preseason accolades.

Phillips was included on the Mike Richter Award Watch List, which is awarded to the top goaltender in NCAA Division I hockey by Let's Play Hockey magazine and the Herb Brooks Foundation. The netminder also appeared on The Hockey News' annual list of 50 college hockey players to watch during the season.

A native of Caledonia, Ontario, Phillips started all 41 games – the most of any NCAA goaltender – for Michigan Tech last year and compiled a 28-9-2 record. He ranked second nationally in wins and shutouts (6) and was third among all NCAA goalies in minutes (2,417:18) and goal-against average (1.74), earning him an All-WCHA First Team citation.

Phillips and the Huskies begin their 2015-16 campaign tomorrow (Oct. 9) in the first of back-to-back exhibition games against Laurentian. Tickets are available at BuyHuskiesTickets.com or at the SDC Ticket Office.
