HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech's Tanner Kero added two more All-America awards to his collection this week as he was named to the USCHO.com First Team and College Hockey News' Second Team. The Hancock, Mich., native has also excelled to begin his professional career, posting three goals in his first four games with the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Kero joined fellow Hobey Baker Award finalists Jack Eichel (Boston Univ.) and Jimmy Vesey (Harvard) as the only three forwards in the nation on the USCHO First Team. The Huskies captain is Michigan Tech's first All-America First Team forward since 1976 (George Lyle and Mike Zuke).

In addition to the All-America awards, Kero has hauled in WCHA Player of the Year, WCHA Student-Athlete of the Year and Senior CLASS Award First Team accolades.

Kero won the WCHA scoring title with 13 goals and 21 assists in 28 league games. He finished the season with 46 points on 20 goals and 26 assists. The co-captain had 12 multiple-point games, including a four-point outburst against Alabama Huntsville (Jan. 31) to notch his 100th career point. He had two six-game point streaks with 10 points in each run.

In 153 career games, he racked up 111 points on 55 goals and 56 assists to rank in a tie for 48th in Tech history.

Kero signed a two-year contract with the Chicaco Blackhawks organization on Apr. 2 and has played four games with AHL afilliate Rockford. The 5-11, 180-pound center made his debut Apr. 9 and scored a goal. He added one goal in each game Apr. 12 and Apr. 15 for 3-0=3 in four games with a +2 plus-minus rating and eight total shots on goal.

The IceHogs have two regular season games remaining this Friday and Saturday (Apr. 17-18).
