Huskies Ranked No. 4 This Week
HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech hockey team is ranked No. 4 this week in both the USCHO and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls. The Huskies are coming off a tie and loss at No. 2 Minnesota State and wrap up the regular season against Northern Michigan this weekend.
Tech is 24-8-2 overall and 19-5-2 in the WCHA. The 24 wins are tied for the most in the country. It is the 16th week the Huskies have been in the polls. They have been in the top 11 all 16 weeks and were ranked No. 1 on Nov. 17 and No. 4 last week.
The Huskies sit three points behind Minnesota State in the race for the MacNaughton Cup. The Mavericks wrap up their season at Bemidji State.
Tech's six seniors will be honored after Friday night's game at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena as Jimmy Davis, Blake Hietala, David Johnstone, Tanner Kero, Blake Pietila and Riley Sweeney will be play their final regular season home game.
Nexteer Automotive has purchased 850 7th man T-shirts for Tech students to wear at Friday's game. 100 of the shirts will be passed out at a live radio remote on Wednesday at the Memorial Union Building. The remaining T-shirts will be handed out at the student entrance before the game.
The Wildcats and Huskies will play in Marquette on Saturday to wrap up the regular season. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. both nights. Both games will be televised live on Fox UP.
Tickets for Friday's game are selling fast. General admission is now open with some reserved seats still available. Reserved adult seats are $17, reserved youth seats are $10, and general admission tickets are $15. Tickets can be purchased at the Central Ticket Office in the Student Development Complex, online at BuyHuskiesTickets.com or over the phone by calling 906-487-2073.
