2022 GLIAC Football Media Day Set for July 25

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that GLIAC Football Media Day 2022 will take place on Monday, July 25 in Detroit, Michigan. Wayne State University hosts the event, which includes a reveal of the football preseason coaches’ poll, provides exclusive coverage, and features interviews and analysis of all eight teams.

Former Michigan Tech defensive lineman Todd Storm has been promoted by the Washington Commanders football team to Assistant Tight Ends Coach. Storm, who hails from Laurium, Michigan, played four seasons at Michigan Tech (2008-11) where he recorded 140 career tackles with 18.5 sacks in 40 games.

Michigan Tech athletics has announced the hiring of Jack Rustman as football offensive line coach. Rustman joins the Huskies from Concordia University (Chicago), where he served as offensive line/assistant head coach from 2019-21. He was also the program’s offensive coordinator in 2021.

Following a successful fall season, Michigan Tech football announced their team awards in a presentation last week. The Huskies improved to a 6-4 record this season, including 5-2 in the GLIAC. Tech won the Miner’s Cup for the 11th straight season with a victory over Northern Michigan 21-14 on October 16. The Huskies also defeated Saginaw Valley State on Senior Day at Kearly Stadium 21-20 to take third place in the conference standings.

Eight members of the Michigan Technological University football have been named all-conference by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office announced Thursday. Defensive linemen Sam Kinne and Nate LaJoie garnered first team All-GLIAC, while Braxton Blackwell, Michael Bates Jr., Jordan Janssen, Marvin Wright, Hayden Huttula, and Drew Wyble were named to the second team at their respective positions. Honorable mention all-GLIAC players included quarterback Will Ark, lineman John Paramski, wide receiver Darius Willis, defensive lineman Austin Schlicht, and wide receiver Hunter Richards. The Huskies finished 6-4 overall, including 5-2 in conference matchups in 2021.
