1963 and 1965 Football Reunions Set for Homecoming Weekend

HOUGHTON, Mich. — A reunion celebration for the 1963 and 1965 championship Michigan Tech football teams will take place during Homecoming 2015. Tech will welcome back many former Huskies for the Oct. 9-10 weekend and recognize them at half of the Homecoming contest.

The 1963 and 1965 teams both won Northern Intercollegiate Conference titles with 6-2 records (4-1 in league play).

The weekend's activities will begin Friday (Oct. 9) with golf in the morning, a gathering at practice in the afternoon and a social that evening.

Saturday (Oct. 10) features Tech's Homecoming game vs. Northwood at 1 p.m. Alumni from the 1963 and 1965 will be welcomed to the VIP Pregame Tailgate and recognized on the field at halftime.

Practice for Michigan Tech's 93rd season of intercollegiate football is underway. VIP Four Packs and single-game tickets are available at the SDC Ticket Office (906-487-2073).

Friday, Oct. 9

10 a.m. - Golf at Portage Lake Golf Course (Players schedule foursomes with course pro shop at 906-487-2641)

4 p.m. - Attend Michigan Tech football practice

6-9 p.m. - Reception at Portage Lake Golf Course (Featuring updates from Athletic Director Suzanne Sanregret and Head Football Coach Tom Kearly)

Saturday, Oct. 10

11:00 a.m. - Update from Michigan Tech President Glenn Mroz in Hockey Suites at the John MacInnes Student Ice Arena

11:30 a.m. - VIP Tailgate Party at Sherman Field

1 p.m. - Michigan Tech Homecoming Game and halftime introduction of 1963 and 1965 teams

Post Game - 5th Quarter celebration at Habanero's Fresh Mexican Kitchen, Hancock

7 p.m. - Michigan Tech hockey vs. Laurentian (Free of charge in the Huskies Suite. Enter through SDC second floor)
