Apex: Legends

Husky Apex improved its standings last week within the Phase One Spring Series.

On Tuesday, Tech secured 37 championship points across six games. In game 2, team captain Griffin Wick "TheGr33nB3an" scored four kills, landing a second-place finish in the round. This and a third-place finish in round 4 put the Huskies in sixth place out of 20 teams in the group.

On Thursday, the Huskies scored 44 championship points across the six games. A Holmes-Serrano "sheep" secured three kills in both games 1 and 2, for third and second-place finishes. Tech placed fourth out of the 20-team group with those finishes and a victorious round 3.

The total of 142 points was not enough to skip the last-chance qualifier, so Huskies Apex is back Tuesday with its last chance to make the final round on Thursday.

Rocket League

Tech lost to Purdue in the final group stage, ending its run in the February Great Lakes Collegiate Rocket League invitational early.

Friday, the Huskies started strong besting Cleary 3-1. An early draw to the event champions Rochester netted an early 3-0 loss. Then, hopes of qualifying for the final day were restored when Tech swept Eastern Michigan 3-0. However, back-to-back 3-0 losses to GVSU and then Purdue kept Michigan Tech out of the final round with a ninth-place finish.

With Tech's performance in the last event, we could see a deeper run in the Spring Great Lakes Rocket League Major tournament on February 10th. Stay tuned.

Monday, Rocket League returns to NACE Starleague Varsity Premier with a new group of opponents. Monday the Huskies faced the West Virginia Institute of Technology. Watch the stream at 7 p.m. at https://twitch.tv/mtuesports.

League of Legends

The Huskies fell to Michigan 2-0 on Saturday. Aiden VanDrie "Oscar Wilde" dealt 19,094 damage to champions as Xerath in game 1 and Kevin Doerr "67" dealt 18,807 damage to champions as Urgot in game 2.

League of Legends faces Manitoba on Saturday. The stream starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday at https://twitch.tv/mtuesports.

Valorant

Northwestern failed to show, and Tech ended the qualifying round of winter collegiate Valorant 1-1.

Huskies Valorant returns to NACE Starleague, but in the Varsity Premier division. The season opener is Wednesday night at 7 p.m., facing UW-Stout. Catch the stream at https://twitch.tv/mtuesports!
