HOCKEY
Michigan Tech began CCHA play with a loss and tie with Bemidji State at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The Beavers won 5-2 Friday and the teams tied 2-2 Saturday with BSU earning the extra CCHA point with a shootout win. Logan Ganie and Ryland Mosley scored Friday. Kyle Kukkonen scored a pair of power-play goals in the third period Saturday to tie the game. Blake Pietila made 37 saves Friday and Max Vayrynen had 24 saves Saturday in his first collegiate start. The Huskies (2-2-1, 0-1-1 CCHA) host St. Lawrence this weekend for a non-conference series. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday.

FOOTBALL
Michigan Tech fell 28-20 at No. 7 Ferris State Saturday. Darius Willis had a touchdown reception and Hunter Buechel scored on a 25-yard interception return to the endzone. Drew Wyble nailed a pair of field goals. Marc Sippel led the defense with 15 tackles. The Huskies return to Kearly Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host No. 1 Grand Valley State.

SOCCER
The Huskies split their weekend downstate with a 2-0 loss at Ferris State Friday and a 2-1 victory at Saginaw Valley State Sunday. Julia Pietila and Emilie Clayton scored in the second half for a come-from-behind win over the Cardinals. The Huskies are 7-7-3 overall and 5-5-3 in the GLIAC. They wrap up the regular season on Friday at Kearly Stadium against Northern Michigan. First kick is set for 5 p.m. The game will be televised on FOX-UP.

VOLLEYBALL
The Huskies also split their weekend downstate. Tech defeated Grand Valley State 3-1 Friday and fell 3-0 at Davenport Saturday. Jillian Kuizenga (3.57 k/s) led the offense while Lina Espejo-Ramirez (8.71 a/s) set the attack, and Carissa Beyer (5.43 d/s) led the defense. Tech is now 15-8 overall and 7-6 in the GLIAC and hosts Northern Michigan Tuesday at the SDC Gym before heading back downstate to Wayne State Friday and Saginaw Valley State Saturday. Tuesday's match against NMU will be televised on FOX-UP at 6 p.m.

CROSS COUNTRY
Both cross country teams placed fourth Saturday at the Warrior Challenge hosted by Wayne State. Jesse Jacobusse (16th) and Elsa Huckles (28th) led the Huskies in the women's race. Tucker Ringhand (9th), Kyle Samluk (18th), Henry Snider (23rd), Kenny Abraham (29th), and Ben Holland (30th) placed in the top 30 for the men's team. The Huskies will return to the same course for the GLIAC Championships on November 4.
