HOCKEY
Tech hockey begins the season Saturday with an exhibition game against Lake Superior State at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The puck drops at 2:07 p.m. The Huskies are ranked No. 20 in the Preseason USCHO Poll and were picked fifth in the Preseason CCHA Coaches' Poll. Goaltender Blake Pietila was named to the Preseason All-CCHA Team. Tech also hosts Lakehead on October 3 in an exhibition game before the regular season begins on October 7 at Ferris State.

CROSS COUNTRY
The No. 15-ranked Michigan Tech men's team made history by winning its first-ever Jo Rider men's Maroon Race at the Roy Griak Invitational Friday in Minneapolis. Clayton Sayen (2nd), Drew Kolodge (3rd), and Sam Lange (8th) placed in the top 10. The women's team placed fourth and was led by Michelle Bollini in 13th and Sam Kurkowski in 17th.

VOLLEYBALL
The Huskies went 2-1 last week with a sweep at Purdue Northwest Friday and a five-set win at Parkside Saturday. The week began with a loss at Northern Michigan Tuesday. Jillian Kuizenga (3.09 k/s) led the attack for the week while Lina Espejo-Ramirez (9.18 a/s) set the attack, and Carissa Beyer (4.45 d/s) led the defense. Tech (9-5, 3-4 GLIAC) wraps up a five-match road trip at Lake Superior State Friday and Ferris State Saturday.

FOOTBALL
Tech football fell 35-13 to No. 19 Saginaw Valley State Saturday at Kearly Stadium. Tech scored on a Will Marano rush in the first quarter and a reception by Brandon Michalak in the second quarter. Marc Sippel led the defense with 11 tackles. Tech begins GLIAC play at Davenport Saturday. Kickoff is at noon.

SOCCER
The Huskies and Davenport fought to a scoreless tie Friday and No. 7 Grand Valley defeated Tech 1-0 Sunday. Both games were downstate. The Huskies wrap up a three-game road trip at Northern Michigan Friday. First kick is at 7 p.m. at the Superior Dome. The game will be televised locally on FOX-UP.
