HOCKEY
The Huskies opened the season with a non-conference sweep at No. 13 Wisconsin the first over the Badgers in Madison since January 1974. Tech won 5-2 Friday and 5-1 Saturday from the Kohl Center. Logan Pietila had three goals on the weekend, Alec Broetzman tallied a goal each night while Brett Thorne, Brian Halonen, Trenton Bliss, Tyrone Bronte, and Parker Saretsky also scored. Blake Pietila had 38 saves Friday and 21 saves Saturday. The Huskies play their home opener this weekend as No. 17 Notre Dame comes to the MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Friday for a 7:07 p.m. start. Tech then hosts the USA Hockey National Team Development Program on Saturday at 6:07 p.m. for an exhibition game.

FOOTBALL
Drew Wyble kicked a 26-yard field goal as time expired to lift Michigan Tech football over Wayne State 30-27 at Tom Adams Stadium Saturday night. Darius Willis had a pair of touchdown receptions for the Huskies and William Marano had a touchdown run in the third quarter. Wyble nailed three field goals. Kevin Lee and Marvin Wright led the defense with eight tackles each. Tech travels to the Superior Dome for the annual Miner's Cup game against Northern Michigan Saturday. The kickoff is at Noon and TV6 will televise the contest.

VOLLEYBALL
Tech extended its winning streak to seven games with a sweep of Northern Michigan Saturday at the SDC Gym. The Huskies won 27-25, 25-13, and 25-18 to pick up their 10th sweep of the season. Anna Jonynas had a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs while hitting .500. Jillian Kuizenga also had double-digit kills with 11 on only 18 swings. Laura De Marchi set the attack with 36 assists. Carissa Beyer finished with 14 digs while Grace Novotny added 10. Tech is now 12-4 overall and 7-1 in the GLIAC and steps away from conference play this weekend for the Midwest Regional Crossover Tournament. Opponents, dates, and times will be announced on Monday.

SOCCER
The Huskies split their weekend with a 2-1 loss at No. 9 Ferris State Friday and a 2-1 win over Parkside Sunday at Kearly Stadium. Hannah Loughlin scored Friday while Grace Shaw provided the offense on Sunday with a pair of goals. Gracie VanLangevelde stopped four shots against the Bulldogs and Erika Gabriel had four saves Sunday. Tech is 7-4 overall and 4-3 in the GLIAC and travels to Northwood Friday and Davenport Sunday.

CROSS COUNTRY
Michigan Tech men's cross country finished seventh while women's cross country came in 13th amongst a 24-team field at the Lewis Crossover Saturday. Clayton Sayen had a top 10 with a sixth-place finish. Drew Kolodge (30th), Tucker Ringhand (44th), and Nick McKenzie (49th) were also in the top 50. Sam Kurkowski led the women in 41st. Michelle Bollini (77th), Chloe Strach (89th), Ingrid Halverson (93rd), and Miranda Meyers (98th) finished in the top 100. The Huskies continue the fall schedule with a scrimmage at NMU on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
