HOCKEY
Tech split at Alabama Huntsville over the weekend. The Huskies won 4-1 Friday and fell 3-1 Saturday. Raymond Brice, Parker Saretsky, Brian Halonen, Logan Pietila, and Tommy Parrottino scored the goals. Matt Jurusik stopped 36 shots in the series and appeared in his 100th collegiate game Saturday. Tech (15-12-3, 10-10-2-0 WCHA) returns home for the annual Winter Carnival series this weekend against Lake Superior State. The two teams will play a total goal series for the MacInnes Trophy with the puck dropping at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 5:07 p.m. Saturday. There will also be a Blue Line Lunch at noon on Friday.

NORDIC SKIING
Tech skied at the CCSA Northwoods Nordic Invitational in Rhinelander, Wisconsin over the weekend. Henriette Semb (2nd in skate and 5th in classic) and Patrick Acton (4th in skate and 5th in classic) both had top-five finishes both Saturday and Sunday. Amanda Kautzer (2nd classic), Sarah Goble (3rd classic), and Oda Hovland (5th skate) also had a top-five finish. The Huskies have this weekend off before hosting the CCSA Championship at the Tech Trails on February 15-16.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies dropped a pair of games downstate over the weekend, falling 68-63 Thursday at Northwood and 73-69 Saturday at Saginaw Valley State. Kyle Monroe (16 points and 10 rebounds) and Isaac Appleby (12.5 points and 12.5 rebounds) averaged a double-double. Dawson Bilski was also in double figures on the weekend with 12.5 points per game. Tech is 14-7 overall and 8-5 in the GLIAC and hosts Purdue Northwest Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Parkside Saturday at 2 p.m. at the SDC Gym.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech wrapped up its four-game road trip with a pair of losses at Northwood (62-50) Thursday and Saginaw Valley State (85-77) Saturday. Michelle LaFave led the Huskies with 20 points Thursday and Abbie Botz scored 21 Saturday. Cassidy Trotter (12.2) and Ellie Mackay (11.6) averaged double figures on the weekend. The Huskies (7-13, 5-8 GLIAC) host Purdue Northwest Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Parkside Saturday at noon at the SDC Gym.



HUSKIES LEND A PAW

This year's community outreach initiative for Michigan Tech Athletics is the Huskies Lend a Paw to support Big Brothers Big Sisters - UP Kids. Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) seeks to change the lives of children facing adversity - for the better, forever. BBBS programs help children realize their full potential and build their futures by providing strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships.
