Laitala named Manager of Athletics Budget and Planning at Michigan Tech

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Michigan Tech Athletics has hired Jennifer Laitala as the Manager of Athletics Budget and Planning. Laitala began her duties in the newly-created position on January 6.

"I am excited about the opportunity that this new position offers, and I look forward to joining the Michigan Tech Athletics staff," Laitala said.

Laitala will be responsible for managing the Department of Athletics and Recreation finances as well as assisting the Director of Budget and Financial Planning in financial analysis of other University operations and assigned projects. She will report to both the Director of Budget and Financial Planning and the Athletic Director.

"We are very excited to welcome Jennifer to our team," Athletic Director Suzanne Sanregret said. "She brings knowledge and experience that will help us achieve our strategic goals and initiatives. I look forward to working with her as we continue to grow Michigan Tech Athletics and Recreation."

Prior to her new position with the Huskies, Laitala was a junior accountant in the Financial Services and Operations Department at Michigan Tech. She began as an administrative aide in May 2017 and was promoted in March 2019.

Laitala also worked as a financial aid counselor/work-study coordinator and coordinator of admissions at Finlandia University from 2012-2017. She also worked in medical billing at Aspirus Keweenaw and as an insurance biller and optometrist assistant at College Avenue Vision Clinic.

Laitala holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and an associate's degree in applied business with a concentration in accounting.
