HOCKEY
The Huskies swept Alaska Anchorage at home with a pair of comeback wins over the weekend. Tech won 2-1 Friday and 4-1 Saturday. Brian Halonen scored both goals Friday and Tyler Rockwell, Trenton Bliss, Tommy Parrottino, and Alec Broetzman found the back of the net Saturday. Matt Jurusik stopped 38-of-40 shots on the weekend. The Huskies improved to 10-7 overall and 8-6 in the WCHA and now host No. 5 Clarkson in the only nonconference home series of the season. There will be a Blue Club Lunch at noon on Friday. RSVP to blueline@mtu.edu by noon on Thursday. The puck drops at 7:07 p.m. Friday and 6:07 p.m. Saturday. A large promotion with Keweenaw Chevrolet for Saturday's game will be announced on Monday.

VOLLEYBALL
The No. 23-ranked volleyball team wrapped up a historic 2019 season at the NCAA Midwest Regional. The Huskies swept No. 22 Missouri-St. Louis in the quarterfinal on Thursday and then fell to No. 10 Hilldale 3-1 Friday in the semifinal. Thursday's win was the first NCAA victory for the program since 1995. Tech finished the season with a 24-8 record, winning the most matches since 1996. Friday's match was the last for seniors Kristine Fink, Courtney Kurkie, Rachel Ping, and Emilia Widen.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Huskies opened GLIAC play with a pair of victories at the SDC Gym. Tech defeated Saginaw Valley State 79-57 Thursday and Northwood 93-59 Saturday. Kyle Monroe eclipsed the 2,000-point mark for his career Saturday, becoming the fourth player in program history to reach the milestone. The Huskies host Finlandia Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Northern Michigan Sunday at 3 p.m.to continue the seven-game home stretch.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Tech split its weekend at the SDC Gym to begin conference play. SVSU edged the Huskies 60-59 Thursday and the bounced back with a 69-46 victory over Northwood Saturday. Ellie Mackay (18.5) and Hanna Hobson (11) averaged in double figures for the Black and Gold. Tech wraps up its 2019 part of the schedule with a Sunday game against Northern Michigan at the SDC Gym. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.

NORDIC SKIING
The 2019-20 ski season begins this weekend at the NMU Open at Al Quaal in Ishpeming. Stayed tuned to MichiganTechHuskies.com for a season preview.
