SDC opening to current students on July 13

Michigan Tech’s Student Development Complex (SDC) will reopen to current students on Monday, July 13. A team of staff from Recreation has developed a reopening plan to ensure the building is utilized safely.
Spring sport Huskies honored by GLIAC for academics

Fifty Michigan Tech spring sport student-athletes were honored by the GLIAC for outstanding academics. Four Huskies from the men’s tennis team and 46 track and field student-athletes were named to the GLIAC All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence Teams.

In keeping with federal, state, and University guidelines, Michigan Tech Recreation will reopen the Student Development Complex to current students on July 13, with limited hours and access to the fitness center and pool.
Mix 93 received awards from Michigan Association of Broadcasters

The Voice of the Huskies, Mix 93.5 FM WKMJ, has recently won three awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in the Commercial Radio Market 4 category.

Tuoriniemi appointed Faculty Athletics Representative for the Huskies

Michigan Tech President Richard Koubek has appointed Joel Tuoriniemi, professor in the College of Business, as the next faculty athletics representative (FAR). Tuoriniemi replaces Bill Sproule who has held the position since 2010.
Gilreath Steps Down as Cager Club President

The Michigan Tech Student Development Complex, Gates Tennis Center, and Systems Control Nordic Waxing Center at the Recreation Trails closed on Monday, March 16 at 3 p.m. due to concerns over the COVID-19 health situation. The closure will last through March 30.
GLIAC Cancels All Activities Through May 31

The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced Friday that it is canceling all athletically related activity for all sports through May 31, 2020 due to concerns over the COVID-19 health situation.
MTU Basketball Players Earn GLIAC Academic Honors

A total of 21 Michigan Tech men's and women's basketball student-athletes earned recognition from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for academics as the league announced its Winter Academic Excellence Awards and All-Academics Teams presented by Meijer on Thursday.
NCAA Cancels Remaining Winter and Spring Championships

The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced Thursday that it is cancelling the remaining winter and spring championships, including the NCAA Skiing Championships and NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Midwest Regional tournament that Michigan Tech was scheduled to participate in this week, due to concerns over the COVID-19 health situation.
Athletics to continue normal operation as Tech moves to online instruction
