Herman Gundlach
Inducted October 29, 1988


Herman Gundlach saw the Michigan Tech athletic program grow and prosper since the early 1900's and he continued to help it move forward with his unending help and dedication.

A member of the Upper Peninsula Hall of Fame, Gundlach captained the 1929 Houghton High School football team and then went on to play football for both Harvard and the Washington Redskins (then Boston) of the National Football League.

After returning to the Copper Country, "Winks," as he was affectionately known, has spent countless hours in support of Michigan Tech and Huskies athletics. He helped found the Huskies Club and is a past president and directior of the organization. In 1983 he received the Distinguised Service Award from Michigan Tech and in 1987 he was honored by the Huskies Club with the prestigious Ken Hamar Award.

He retired after a successful business career as president of Herman Gundlach, Inc., General Contractor.

Gundlach passed away on March 4, 2005.
