Gerald J. Caspary
Inducted November 2, 1991

Helping MTU athletics grow and prosper has been a major part of Gerald Caspary's life for parts of five decades.

Having held a number of positions at MTU since 1946, including Dean of the School of Technology from 1975 until his retirement in 1984, Caspary served as the public address announcer for MTU hockey for 26 seasons (1955-81).

He also helped organize the Michigan Tech Booster Club until it became The Huskies Club at the request of then MTU president Raymond Smith. Activities sponsored by the initial MTU Booster Club included supplying lunches for the hockey team on long bus trips; sponsoring banquets for hockey, football, and basketball teams; and helping improve community relations.

Caspary received an honorary varsity letter in 1962, an honorary blanket in 1979, and the Ken Hamar Award in 1977. He also served from 1971-78 on The Huskies Club Board of Directors.

Caspary passed away on August 9, 1993.
