Bio

Gary Kruzich was hired as the Director of Athletic Marketing at Michigan Tech in October 2016.

Kruzich brings many years of retail management experience, as well as three years of experience with corporate partnerships at the collegiate level. He completed his Master of Sports Management from Liberty University.

Kruzich attended Bowling Green State University and as a freshman goaltender captured the NCAA Division I National Championship. He posted a 21-5-2 record and a 2.87 goals-against average that season, earning NCAA Frozen Four MVP honors. He backstopped the Falcons to a 2-1 semifinal win over Michigan State and the memorable 5-4 win in the title game over Minnesota Duluth in four overtimes.

Kruzich earned First Team All-America honors his final two seasons for the Falcons and is one of only two players in school history to earn First Team All-America honors twice.

Kruzich’s 88 (88-35-4) career wins broke former Montreal Canadien and NHL Hall of Fame goalie Ken Dryden's NCAA record. He is a two-time inductee into the BGSU Athletics Hall of Fame, once as a team member of the 1984 hockey team and once as an individual.

Kruzich played two seasons with Flint Spirits in the International Hockey League after being drafted by the New York Islanders with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 1986 NHL Supplemental Draft. He finished his pro career with a 23-22-2 record.

Kruzich, originally from Oak Lawn, Illinois, and his wife Joan reside in Lake Linden, Michigan. They have five children.
