Michigan Tech Student-Athletes

Greetings from the Athletic Director!

To all Michigan Tech Student-Athletes:

As you prepare to start a new season, whether it is your first, last, or somewhere in between, keep in mind the unique opportunities that can be realized through intercollegiate athletic participation. The challenges, successes, failures, friendships, and hardships experienced through honest competition will provide you with vivid and valuable lessons to complement those gained through the rigors of the academic realm. It is important to understand that while athletics is a vital and important part of your Michigan Tech experience, it must not supersede the academic component.

As a student-athlete, your actions on and off the playing field are highly visible and will reflect on your team, the athletic department and the entire University. You are held to the same standard of conduct as other Michigan Tech students; however, if your behavior results in disciplinary action by the University or the NCAA, you will be penalizing your teammates as well as the entire athletic department.

I wish you much success in the upcoming season. Remember to work hard, play hard, accept victory with humility, and acknowledge the victories of others with grace.
