Bio

Gaines is in his fifth season as a Graduate Assistant Coach in 2023-24 for the Huskies. Gaines competed for Michigan Tech Cross Country and Track and Field as a distance runner beginning in the Fall of 2016 before transitioning to the coaching staff. Gaines is the event group coach for Pole Vault and manages the recruiting pipeline for all event groups. He completed his B.S. in Computer Science in the Spring of 2019, his M.S. in the Spring of 2021, and his PHD in Fall of 2023.  He is employed as a Research Assistant Professor in Michigan Tech's Computer Science department. Prior to college, Gaines attended Sterling Heights Stevenson High School and the Utica Center for Math, Science, and Technology, and was a member of the Thunderchickens FIRST Robotics team.
