HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech cross country squads return from a week hiatus from competition, heading to Illinois for the Lewis Crossover hosted by Lewis University on Saturday.

Michigan Tech will bring its largest contingent of the season to Lewis as the last meet of the regular season.

The women will take to the course first at 10:45 a.m., followed by the men's race at 11:30 a.m. The event will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network with live results from runsignup.com.

The race will be a homecoming of sorts for Hannah Kilpatrick, Sam Lange and Nathan Luczak, who are natives of Illinois.

Last Time Out

The XC squads had an uncharacteristic day at the races at the Roy Griak Invitational, as the men placed ninth overall while the women placed seventh.

However, the Huskies had some highlights individually as Hannah Loughlin continued her impressive start to the season with a seventh-place finish, running 22:26.1.

Michigan Tech saw first-years Sophia Rhein (23:24.8) and Hailee Zimpel (23:44.3) finish as the second and third scorers for the Huskies.

Ingrid Halverson and Anabel Needham rounded the top-five for Tech.

Halverson placed 70th overall (24:15.7), while Needham picked up five places in the final 1k, placing 71st in the race (24:19.5).

Sam Lange made his season debut to lead the men's squad with his performance of 26:43.6, placing him 36th in the men's race.

St. Paul, Minnesota, native Henry Snider was the second Husky on the day, placing 59th in 26:55.5.

Sawyer Fowler (27:03.3) and Stanley Elder (27:04.2) moved up well in the final 3k to place 61st and 62nd, respectively.

Callen Carrier rounded out the top five for Michigan Tech with his time of 27:11.1, placing 69th in the field.

One Last Thing

Following the Lewis Crossover, the Huskies shift to championship mode as Michigan Tech will play host to the GLIAC Championships on Oct. 21 being held at the Tech Trails.
