Michigan Tech Cross Country Sweeps Conference Players of the Week

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech cross country team swept the GLIAC Player of the Week honors for week two as Tucker Ringhand won the honor on the men's side while Hannah Loughlin was tabbed by the conference for the women's honors.

This is the first time that both Ringhand and Loughlin have been tabbed Player of the Week.

The Huskies had a great showing at the Phoenix Open hosted by Green Bay on Friday (Sept. 8), with the men winning the team title and the women taking runner-up honors.

Ringhand won his second consecutive meet to open the season, with his winning time of 25:02.5 near a personal-best for 8k. He led the No. 18 nationally-ranked Huskies to a team title at the Phoenix Open.

Hannah Loughlin has also impressed in the early stages of the season, placing third overall and close to breaking 22 minutes on the 6k course. Her time of 22:01.8 was a personal-best by over 47 seconds. She was the low-stick for the Huskies, helping them to a second-place team finish, coming behind the No. 5 nationally-ranked team Winona State.

Up Next

The Huskies will return to the races on Sept. 22, traveling to the historic Roy Griak Invitational hosted by the University of Minnesota. The men will look to defend their team title in the maroon race at 12:30 p.m., with the women to follow in the maroon race at 1:15 p.m.
