Huskies Ranked in Latest USTFCCCA Polls

NEW ORLEANS – Following solid team performances at the 2019 GLIAC Championships, the Michigan Tech cross country teams received high rankings in this week's National and Regional Coaches Polls, released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

After finishing in second place at the GLIAC Championships, the men's team received 142 points in the latest National poll to rank eighth in the country, 11 points ahead Alabama-Huntsville of the South Region and 10 points behind Augustana (S.D.) of the Central Region. The Huskies also moved into the No. 2 spot in the Midwest Region rankings, sitting behind Grand Valley State while ranking ahead of teams such as Southern Indiana and Saginaw Valley State.

In the women's rankings, Michigan Tech moved two spots into 19th in Division II with 51 points after finishing third in the GLIAC Championships, tying them with Tampa from the South Region and placing 13 points behind GLIAC rival Saginaw Valley State. Tech dropped one spot in this week's Midwest Region rankings to stand seventh ahead of Cedarville and behind Saginaw Valley State.

A combined six runners received All-GLIAC honors for placing inside the top 20. Braden Reichl, Matt Pahl, Clayton Sayen, and Emily Byrd all received First Team honors, while Brendan Klynstra and Gabrielle Feber scored Second Team finishes.

The Huskies will hit the course again on November 9 in the NCAA Midwest Region Championship, hosted by Southern Indiana. The women will run first in the 6K race at 10:30 a.m. (CST), followed by the men's 10K race at 11:45 a.m. (CST).
