PREVIEW: Huskies Conclude Regular Season at U.P. Championships

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech cross country team will compete in the final race of the regular season on Friday (Oct. 18) at U.P. Championships in Marquette, Michigan. The race, hosted by Northern Michigan at the NMU Golf Course, will begin at 3 p.m. with the women's 5K race, followed by the 8K men's race at 3:45 p.m.

The men's team enters the regular season finale ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation as they are the No. 10 team in the country according to the latest USTFCCCA Division II National Coaches poll, and they are the third-ranked team in the Midwest Region according to the USTFCCCA Division II Regional standings. The Huskies raced at the Conference Crossover Invitational in Romeoville, Illinois this past weekend and recorded a team finish of 19th with 581 points.

Meanwhile, the Michigan Tech women also find themselves ranked among the best in the country and the region. The Huskies received a national ranking of 21st in the country and sixth in the Midwest Region in this week's polls. Tech earned 216 points at last Saturday's Conference Crossover Invitational, putting them fifth in the women's race.

"It's a good opportunity for some of our runners who might be ending their season to get to race for one last time," said head coach Jake Isaacson about Friday's race.
