HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 21 Ferris State on Homecoming Saturday (Sept. 30) at the SDC Gym. The Bulldogs won 25-18, 25-15, and 25-15.

"Credit to a good Ferris team. They're undefeated in our league for a reason," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "We knew we would have to play a clean game, and we simply didn't do that today. They have a way of taking teams and disorienting them with their serve game and offense."

Brynn Erickson served the Huskies to an early 7-2 lead but the Bulldogs used an 8-0 run take the lead. Meg Raabe and Kaycee Meiners combined for seven kills in the opening set, but Tech was unable to overcome the visitors who had four aces and hit .385.

The second set had six early ties and three lead changes before FSU used a 7-0 run that extended into a 9-1 rally to take command. The Bulldogs hit .536 in the second and put down 17 kills.

The Huskies held an early lead for the third straight set, but once again Ferris State found its footing, piecing together five runs of at least three straight points. Rachel Zurek had three kills for the Black and Gold in the third, but Claire Nowicki had the final two kills for the Bulldogs.

Meg Raabe (8), Kaycee Meiners (5), Lindy Oujiri (4), and Rachel Zurek (4) all had at least four kills in a balanced offensive attack. Tess Hayes registered 22 assists and Amelia Albers led with eight digs.

Tech is 5-10 overall and 3-4 in the GLIAC and will continue its five-match home stand next weekend against Purdue Northwest Friday and Parkside Saturday.
