Emmert and DeMarchi Named to All-Tournament Team at Midwest Region Crossover Tournament

AURORA, Ill. – Michigan Tech volleyball players, senior Lauren Emmert and freshman Laura DeMarchi, were selected to the 10th annual 2017 Midwest Region Crossover Tournament Sunday evening.

A total of 15 student-athletes were nominated and positional equity was considered by each conference. The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) had six selections, the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) had five, and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) had four.

Northbrook, Ill. native, Lauren Emmert started in all three tournament matches, tallied 25 kills with only one error. The middle blocker averaged 2.50 kills per set and owned an impressive attack percentage of .500. Emmert recorded eight blocks and added seven digs.

Laura DeMarchi is ranked fifth in assists per set at 11.90 in the NCAA Division II standings and leads the GLIAC in the same category. DeMarchi finished third overall with 118 assists, averaging over 39 assists per match and 11.80 assists per set. She also added 27 digs and five kills. 

"We're very proud of Lauren and Laura for being selected to the all-tournament team at the regional crossover," said Michigan Tech head coach Matt Jennings. "They each had excellent performances individually and contributed a great deal to the team. They are two of the best players at their position in the region and they deserve this recognition." 

Volleyball went 1-2 at the crossover tournament. The Huskies won their fourth straight match Friday with a 3-0 sweep of Bellarmine. Tech fell 3-0 to Drury later Friday and dropped a 3-1 decision to Findlay Saturday. Tech is 12-8 overall and returns to GLIAC play at home this weekend, hosting new conference members Davenport on Friday and Purdue Northwest Saturday.
