Volleyball to Host Kills for Cancer This Friday

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech volleyball team is hosting a Kills for Cancer this Friday Oct. 20 at the SDC Gym sponsored by UP Health System. The Huskies host Davenport Friday and Purdue Northwest Saturday.

The Huskies are partnering with the local Women Living with Cancer Support Group who provides support for cancer patients. Each player will have a warm up t-shirt that will be available for bid online using the volleyball Facebook page, with a minimum bid of $20. The bidding will be cutoff Friday Oct. 20 at 9 p.m.

HOW TO BID
 1. View the volleyball roster page to find a player whose shirt you would like to bid on.
 2. Head over to the volleyball Facebook page to place your bid.
 3. Add your bid to the comments section on the Kills for Cancer image.

Fans can also make monetary donations throughout the week as well as donating following items that will go into care packages for the patients.

  • Bottles of hand sanitizer gel
  • Hand cream
  • Chap stick/lip balm
  • Sunscreen
  • Pens
  • Thank you cards
  • Thinking of you cards
  • Sticky pads
  • Small spiral notepads
  • Bookmarks
  • Kleenex purse packs
  • Life Saver mints
  • Cough drops
  • Small individually wrapped chocolates
  • Small items for men-bungee cords, carabiners, flashlights, small tools etc.
  • Any other small items for women-purse mirror, nail clippers, etc.

Donation boxes will be available at the SDC Ticket Office during this weekend's matches.

Friday's match begins at 4 p.m. against the Panthers with a 4 p.m. first serve Saturday.
