Pohlod Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team

HOUGHTON, Mich.Rachel Pohlod from the Michigan Tech volleyball team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. The senior setter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has a 3.99 grade-point average in mechanical engineering.

Pohlod is one of three players in Tech history to record over 2,000 assists and 1,000 digs in her career. She currently ranks fourth at Tech in career assists (2,906) and sixth in career digs (1,167). She was a two-time GLIAC Academic All-Excellence selection and a GLIAC Honorable Mention choice in 2015. Pohlod had the third most assists in a season during 2015 with 1,145 and had the second most assists per set in a season with 10.9.

In 2016, Pohlod ranks fourth in the GLIAC in total assists in league matches (586) and third in assists per set (10.85). She's had 50-assists in five matches this season, including a career high 64 against Lake Erie on October 21. She has also hit double figures in digs in 18 matches, including the last the 10.

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form.

Only first teams were chosen for at-large district recognition, so all honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected in June.
