Ficek Named GLIAC North Player of the Week

BAY CITY, Mich. – Michigan Tech's Aubrey Ficek was named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week on Monday (Oct. 24) after leading the Huskies to a 2-0 weekend at the SDC Gym.

Ficek, senior outside hitter, racked up 39 kills, averaging 4.88 per set, and 20 digs (2.5 per set) while hitting .315 on the weekend. The Lockport, Illinois native had 27 kills and 13 digs while hitting .323 in a 3-2 win over Lake Erie Friday and added 12 kills and seven digs with a .300 hitting percentage in a 3-0 sweep of Ohio Dominican Saturday. Ficek's 3.48 kills per set average in conference matches ranks fifth. She ranks fifth in overall kills (300) amongst GLIAC players and sixth in kills in conference matches (139). Ficek leads the Huskies in kills (300) and points (324) while ranked fourth in digs (119) and service aces (15).

The Huskies play their final two road matches of the regular season at Ferris State and Grand Valley this weekend (Oct. 28-29). Friday's match at Ferris starts at 8 p.m. with a 4 p.m. first serve at Grand Valley Saturday. Tech is currently in a three-way tie for third place in the GLIAC North Division standings with GVSU and Saginaw Valley State.
