Pohlod Receives GLIAC Commissioner’s Award

Michigan Tech volleyball player Rachel Pohlod was one of the six female recipients of the 2016 Fall GLIAC Commissioner’s Award the league announced on Friday (Feb. 17). Six male and six female student-athletes that excel academically and on the fields of play are presented after the fall, winter, and spring athletic seasons with the award.
Volleyball Hands Out Team Awards; Ficek and Pohlod Named MVP

The Michigan Tech volleyball team recently handed out its team awards. Seniors Aubrey Ficek and Rachel Pohlod were named co-Most Valuable Players, junior Stephanie Dietrich was named the Most Improved Player for the second time in her career, Kristine Fink received the Harold Meese Sportsmanship Award, and Elle Heinonen took home the Digger Award.

Rachel Pohlod of the Michigan Tech volleyball team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Second Team Wednesday (Dec. 7) as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Volleyball Signs DeMarchi, Ghormley, Utlak for 2017

Michigan Tech volleyball coach Matt Jennings today announced that three players – Laura DeMarchi (Milan, Italy), Olivia Ghormley (Oneida, Wis.), and Megan Utlak (Parma, Ohio) – have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Huskies for the 2017 season.

Volleyball Season Ends in Five Set Thriller at SVSU

The Michigan Tech volleyball team had its 2016 season come to an end in a five-set thriller at Saginaw Valley State in the quarterfinal round of the GLIAC Tournament Wednesday (Nov. 16). The Huskies and Cardinals battled to extra points in the first four sets at Hamilton Gymnasium, and it was the home team winning 15-12 in the fifth to advance to the GLIAC Semifinals.
Volleyball Sweeps LSSU to Finish Regular Season

The Michigan Tech volleyball swept Lake Superior State 3-0 Saturday (Nov. 12) afternoon at the SDC Gym to finish the regular season. The Huskies won 25-18, 25-11, and 25-15 on Senior Day.

The Michigan Tech volleyball team fell 3-1 to Saginaw Valley State Friday (Nov. 11) at the SDC Gym. The Cardinals won 25-21, 15-25, 25-13, and 26-24. The Huskies are now 15-14 on the season and 10-6 in the GLIAC.

Rachel Pohlod from the Michigan Tech volleyball team has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. The senior setter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania has a 3.99 grade-point average in mechanical engineering.
