HOUGHTON, Mich. - The Wayne State Warriors defeated Michigan Tech 3-2 in GLIAC play at the SDC Gym today. Set scores were 25-21, 25-16, 12-25, 22-25, and 7-15.

A slow Husky start led to Wayne State claiming the first two sets.

The Huskies exploded with a strong start in the third. Tech ended the set on a 7-0 run with a strong serving run from Sarah Rasmussen

The momentum from the third set carried over to the fourth as the Huskies finished the frame on a seven-kill streak with three straight kills from Aubrey Ficek.

Wayne State came out strong in the fifth to put out the Huskies 15-7.

"When you come back like that, you have to finish. We've clearly been struggling to do that this season," Tech coach Matt Jennings said. "It's something we need to work on moving forward."

Sophomore Kendall Ward finished the match with a team-high 18 kills for Tech. Lauren Emmert added 11 kills, and Rachel Pohlod finished the match with 45 assists.

The Huskies (9-16 overall, 6-10 GLIAC) are back at home for their final two games of the season next weekend against Northwood on Nov. 7 at 5 p.m. and Lake Superior State on Nov. 8 at 3 p.m.
