Volleyball Falls to Ferris 3-0

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. — Ferris State defeated Michigan Tech 3-0 in GLIAC volleyball at Ewigleben Arena today. The No. 22-ranked Bulldogs posted set scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-13 to defend their home court.

"We simply got outplayed today by a very good team," said Tech coach Matt Jennings. "We were in it for parts of each set, but made some uncharacteristic errors that put us in a hole. Credit a Ferris for executing well."

The Huskies (9-12 overall, 6-6 GLIAC) held a 14-11 lead in set one before FSU closed with a 14-2 run. The score was 20-18 in the second set before a 5-0 run by the Bulldogs to claim it. The third set saw Ferris jump out to a 19-7 advantage.

Kendall Ward and Lauren Emmert tied for a team high with six kills apiece. Sylvie Rokosh added five more.

Jacqueline Aird, with a match-high 21 digs, was one of three Huskies in double digits in digs. Halie Hart notched 13 digs. Aubrey Ficek, who was playing her first match since Sept. 13 (injury), posted 10 digs.

Ferris State (14-5 overall, 11-1 GLIAC) finished with a .275 hitting percentage and nine total blocks. Tech had a .018 hitting percentage and two blocks.

Michigan Tech will wrap up its road schedule with a 4 p.m. start at Grand Valley State tomorrow. The Huskies then come home for their final five matches of the regular season.
