Volleyball Picked Seventh in GLIAC North

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Michigan Tech volleyball team was picked seventh in the North Division in the 2014 GLIAC Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday (Aug. 14). Grand Valley State was the top pick in the North while Ashland received the nod in the South.

After GVSU (55) in the North Division, Ferris State (43), Northern Michigan (35), Saginaw Valley State (31), and Wayne State (22) rounded out the top five. Northwood (18) was sixth while the Huskies received 18 points and Lake Superior State (8) was eighth.

Ashland (48), Hillsdale (43), Findlay (38), Ohio Dominican (29), and Malone (28) were the top five in the South Division. Tiffin (17), Walsh (16), and Lake Erie (8) were selected at the bottom of the South.

The Huskies begin the season at home when they host the Keweenaw Classic sponsored by Joey's Seafood and Grill on Sept. 4-6 at the SDC Gym. Tech plays UW-Parkside, Bemidji State, Upper Iowa, Winona State and Minnesota Duluth over the opening weekend.
