Huskies shutout at #25 Biola

LA MIRADA, Calif. - With just four available players on the roster, Michigan Tech women's tennis fell 4-0 to No. 25 ranked Biola University Tuesday evening at BU Tennis Center. The Huskies dropped the team doubles point with a forfeit at No. 3 and a 6-0 loss at No. 1, with Chiara Heinz and Neva Manas falling to [13] Colbeyshae Emery and Mary Brascia.

Ivona Gorgioski returned to No. 1 singles, but lost in straight sets to Alexandria Mann 6-3, 6-0. Neva Manas evened up her match at No. 2 singles against Lily McNeill 6-0, 4-6 but with the deciding team point decided, Manas's match went unfinished. Marina Fernandez forced a first set tiebreaker but trailed Gaby Carvajal 7-6, 3-0 (unfinished) at No. 3. Ines Diaz took the first set against Chiara Heinz at No. 4 singles. The second set was tied 3-3 when the match was called. The Huskies forfeited positions five and six.

"Unfortunately, we had a couple players out today due to recurring injuries," said head coach Kristin Yep. "I am really proud of the way the team went out there to compete and fight for every point no matter the circumstances."

Michigan Tech (0-4) continues its California road trip at Point Loma Nazarene on Friday, March 11 at 3 p.m.
