Women's Tennis Finishes Off Fall with 9-0 Win

MIDLAND, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team wrapped up its 2014 fall schedule with a 9-0 sweep of Findlay today at Midland Community Tennis Center. The Huskies finished the fall with a 4-8 record (overall and GLIAC) and in a tie for eighth place in the GLIAC standings.

Tech missed out on the GLIAC Tournament by virtue of a tie-breaker with Saginaw Valley State.

Huskies' No. 1 player Kwang Suthijindawong completed her third perfect season in GLIAC singles by defeating Matina Matic 6-3, 7-6 (0). Suthijindawong is now 36-0 in her GLIAC career. Four other Huskies won in straight sets. Sandra Cvetanovic finished the fall season with a 6-6 GLIAC record at No. 2 after a 7-6 (4), 6-4 victory. Emilia Tenizbaeva (6-0, 7-5 at No. 3), Natalia Parra Alvarez (6-2, 6-2 at No. 4) and Erika Tenizbaeva (6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) were also winners. Kat Donovan won by default at No. 6.

The Huskies No. 1 doubles team of Suthijindawong and Cvetanovic won by an 8-1 count. The Tenizbaeva sisters earned an 8-2 triumph at No. 2. The Oilers (3-10, 2-10 GLIAC) defaulted at No. 3 doubles as well.
