Lebedeva and Suthijindawong Earn All-GLIAC First Team

BAY CITY, Mich. — Michigan Tech women's tennis players Natalia Lebedeva (Nakhodka, Russia) and Kwang Suthijindawong (Bangkok, Thailand) were both named All-GLIAC First Team the league announced today. The Huskies were one of only two teams to have two players earn all-league first team honors.

Lebedeva played No. 1 singles all season and turned in a 12-2 record in GLIAC matches. She finished the fall on a five-match winning streak, claiming all five in straight sets. In doubles, the senior was 12-2 including an 11-1 slate with Suthijindawong as partner. Lebedeva is a four-time All-GLIAC honoree with the last three seasons earning first team accolades.

Suthijindawong, who was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2012, has never lost a GLIAC singles match. She posted a 13-0 mark at No. 2 singles with straight set wins in every match. Of her 26 sets, she won 25 of them by a 6-3 score or better. The sophomore also posted a 12-2 conference doubles mark.

In addition to the two All-GLIAC First Team picks, Tech's Emilia Tenizbaeva was named All-GLIAC Honorable Mention. The sophomore was 6-8 in singles play with a 1-0 mark at No. 3 and 5-8 record at No. 4.

Michigan Tech and Tiffin were the only two teams to garner two All-GLIAC First Team selections. Northwood's Darina Berkova, who was 13-0 at No. 1 singles in 2013, earned the nod as the GLIAC Women's Tennis Athlete of the Year.

The Huskies turned in a 5-9 team record in fall 2013 and will resume competition in the spring semester.
