Tech Tops Lake Superior State 7-2

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech wrapped up its 2013 fall women's tennis season with a 7-2 victory over Lake Superior State today. The Huskies finished their GLIAC campaign with a 5-9 record—tied for ninth of 15 teams in the league.

Tech claimed five of the six singles flights and two of three doubles matches to get their third straight win.

Kwang Suthijindawong polished off an undefeated dual match season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles. She is 13-0 in team matches and 15-1 overall in singles in 2013. Over the last two seasons, Suthijindawong has amassed a 34-2 mark.

No. 1 singles player Natalia Lebedeva has also had tremendous success this season. The senior cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory today to improve to 13-3 overall this season and 60-17 in her career.

Emilia Tenizbaeva, Audrey Hutton and Kat Donovan were also victorious for the Huskies at Nos. 4, 5 and 6 singles, respectively.

After a couple matches playing with different partners. Lebedeva and Suthijindawong were reunited at No. 1 doubles. They played to an 8-1 victory. Audrey Hutton and Emilia Tenizbaeva claimed an 8-2 triumph at No. 3 doubles.

Michigan Tech has concluded its 2013 fall season. The squad will resume play in the spring.
