Tennis Falls to Wayne 6-3

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Wayne State defeated Michigan Tech 6-3 in women's tennis today at Gates Tennis Center. The Huskies claimed wins at the top two singles flights and No. 1 doubles to account for their three points.

Natalia Lebedeva improved to 8-2 at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 rout of WSU's Yahsha Moore. Tech's No. 2 singles player Kwang Suthijindawong remained unbeaten in dual matches on the year (9-0) with a 6-1, 7-6 (1) triumph.

The Warriors claimed flights three through six all by straight sets.

Lebedeva and Suthijindawong were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles to improve to 9-1 at that position. The Huskies sister duo of Emilia and Erika Tenizbaeva battled at No. 2 doubles but fell by an 8-6 count. WSU claimed No. 3 doubles 8-0.

Michigan Tech (2-8 overall, 2-8 GLIAC) will have two more matches at home this weekend. Friday (Oct. 4) at noon vs. Hillsdale and Saturday (Oct. 5) vs. Findlay at 10 a.m.
