Tech Tennis All Aces at Malone

CANTON, Ohio — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team earned its first victory of the season with a 9-0 sweep at Malone today in GLIAC action. The Huskies won at all three doubles and all six singles flights including a pair of three-set victories.

The Huskies top two players continued their undefeated streak in strong fashion. Natalia Lebedeva cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 1 singles. Tech's No. 2 player, Kwang Suthijindawong, was a 6-0, 6-1 victor. The Bangkok, Thailand, native has lost only three of the 51 singles games she's played all season.

At No. 3 singles, Erika Tenizbaeva dropped her first set 6-3, but rallied back in the second 6-2 and the super tiebreaker 13-11. Emilia Tenizbaeva turned in a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles. Audrey Hutton and Kat Donovan both secured their first singles wins of the season. Hutton earned a 4-6, 6-1, 10-8 decision at No. 5 while Donovan went straight sets for a 6-3, 6-0 score.

Tech swept all three doubles including an 8-0 score from Lebedeva and Suthijindawong at No. 1, where they improved to 3-1 on the season.

As a team, Tech is now 1-3. The Huskies have matches at Lake Erie tomorrow (Sept. 14) and Walsh Sunday (Sept. 15) before wrapping up the road trip.
