Women's Tennis Defeated 6-3 by Ohio Dominican

HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Michigan Tech women's tennis team fell by a 6-3 score to Ohio Dominican today at Gates Tennis Center.

The Huskies doubles duo of Natalia Lebedeva and Kwang Suthijindawong earned their first victory of the season with an 8-0 decision at No. 1. The Panthers took the other two doubles flights for a 2-1 lead heading into singles competition.

Tech won the first two singles matches that were completed for a 3-2 lead, but ODU earned the other four singles flights for the 6-3 outcome.

Lebedeva moved to 2-0 on the season as she cruised 6-2, 6-2 over Anita Girizd at No. 1 singles. Suthijindawong likewise improved to 2-0 on the year. The sophomore had an extraordinary number of winners in her 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Carla Leggett.

Emilia Tenizbaeva's bid to join the top Huskies pair at 2-0 started with a 7-5 first-set win before ODU's Ana Pico turned the tables for 6-2 wins in the second and third sets.

Michigan Tech will wrap up a three-match home stand tomorrow at 10 a.m. vs. Ashland.
