Three Huskies Earn All-GLIAC Honors

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team saw three players earn GLIAC recognition, announced by the conference office on Thursday evening. Molly Bolang and Gracie VanLangevelde were named All-GLIAC First Team. Stephanie Yeager rounded out the accolades earning All-GLIAC Honorable Mention. 

This is the first time since the 2016 season that the Huskies have a player named to the All-GLIAC first team. The honors also marks the second time in Michigan Tech history that the team has earned two All-GLIAC First Team players, also coming in the 2016 season.

Molly Bolang, a junior defender from Pinckney, Michigan, started in every game for the Huskies this season. In total, she played 1,642 minutes, playing all 90 minutes in 16 games. Bolang was critical on the backline, playing a huge role in the eight shutouts recorded by the Black & Gold this season.

Gracie VanLangevelde, a senior from Spring Lake, Michigan, is the second goalkeeper in school history to earn All-GLIAC First Team honors. She ranks second in the GLIAC in both saves (81) and save percentage (.818). The Huskies goalkeeper also logged a career-high eight shutouts this season, good for 23rd nationally. Additionally, VanLangevelde logged 1,710 minutes between the posts this season, ranking third in the nation. VanLangevelde earned Defensive Player of the Week honors twice this season, coming on Oct. 4 and Oct. 18.

Stephanie Yeager, a midfielder from New Boston, Michigan, led the Huskies this season in points (11), goals (4) and assists (3). She scored one game-winner this season, firing 30 shots placing 13 on goal, playing in all 19 games this fall.  

Michigan Tech finished the 2022 season 7-9-3 with a conference record of 5-6-3. The Huskies fell at Ferris State 3-1 in the GLIAC quarterfinals.
