Michigan Tech Soccer Releases 2022-23 Schedule

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Head coach Turk Ozturk and the Michigan Tech soccer program is pleased to announce a full slate of games for the fall 2022-23 season. The Huskies are fresh off a successful spring, where they went 9-5 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 12-7 overall. Tech qualified for the GLIAC quarterfinals for the second straight season and was in contention for selection to the NCAA Region Tournament until the final week of the year.

The Huskies start out with four non-conference opponents, including Minnesota Duluth (Aug. 25), St. Cloud State (Aug. 27), Minnesota Crookston (Sept. 2), and Bemidji State (Sept. 4). The home opener is slated for September 2 at Kearly Stadium against the Eagles. 

The team kicks off conference play with a road trip to Purdue Northwest and Wisconsin-Parkside September 9-11. Tech returns to Houghton to host Saginaw Valley State (Sept. 16) and Ferris State (Sept. 18) before heading to Davenport (Sept. 23) and defending national champion Grand Valley State (Sept. 25). Then the Huskies will have a chance to avenge a pair of late-season losses against rival Northern Michigan on Sept. 30. Following a four-game homestand in mid-October, Tech travel to Ferris State and Saginaw Valley State before closing the regular season at home versus Northern Michigan.

The 2022-23 campaign marks the 13th season in the history of the program, with the Huskies reaching the conference quarterfinals or better nine times in the last ten seasons. Coach Ozturk begins his third season alongside assistant coach Cora Essenmacher. Five Huskies were named All-conference in the spring. Three are expected to return, including team captains Grace Shaw (Green Bay, Wis.) and Stephanie Yeager (New Boston, Mich.), as well as Molly Bolang (Pinckney, Mich.).

In total, the Huskies play 18 games with two games against each conference opponent for a total of 14.
