THIS WEEKEND'S GAMES

  • The Huskies will travel downstate to take on Northwood on Friday (Oct. 15) at 2:30 p.m.

  • Michigan Tech will then visit Davenport on Sunday (Oct. 17) with an 11:00 a.m. morning start. 

 

A RECAP OF LAST WEEKEND

  • The Huskies traveled to Ferris State and fell 2-1. Hannah Loughlin got the goal for the Huskies. 

  • The Black and Gold returned home and took down Parkside 2-1 on Sunday. Grace Shaw scored twice for Michigan Tech. 

 

SCOUTING NORTHWOOD

  • The Timberwolves are 7-3 overall and 3-3 in the GLIAC. 

  • Northwood is coming off a 3-1 home loss to Davenport on Oct. 10. 

  • Northwood has outscored their opponents 29-10 so far this season. Junior forward Juliana Paoletti leads the team with eight goals and 18 points. Abigail Fowler (14 points) and Jessica Piper (13 points) have each reached double-digit points for the Timberwolves. 

  • Chelsea Hunter is in her fourth season as head coach of the Timberwolves.


SCOUTING DAVENPORT

  • The Panthers are 2-9-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the GLIAC. 

  • Davenport has been outscored 36-9 this season.  

  • The Panthers are coached by Paige Eli, who is in her third season at the helm. 

 

PREVIOUS MEETINGS

  • The Huskies and theTimberwolves last faced off on April 9, 2021 in Houghton. The Huskies won 2-1 on goals from Jesse Jacobusse and Brooke Schauer

  • Michigan Tech last faced off against PDavenport earlier this season (Sept. 17) in Houghton. The Huskies were victorious 2-0. Grace Shaw and Jesse Jacobusse scored for Tech. 

 

STATISTICAL LEADERS

ALL-GLIAC RETURNEES

  • The Black and Gold return four all-GLIAC players from last season.

  • Fifth year senior Jesse Jacobusse led the Huskies with seven goals and 15 points in the spring season.

  • Joining Jacobusse on the attack is senior and co-captain Grace Shaw. Shaw recorded four goals and added five assists in the 2021 spring campaign. She was second on the team with 13 points. 

  • Also anchoring the Huskies' lineup are senior Brooke Schauer and junior Neve Badalow. Schauer recorded two goals and five assists (nine points) last season while Badalow assisted on two goals and had a stellar season on the defensive end. 

 

PRESEASON POLL

  • The Huskies were selected to finish fourth in the GLIAC Preseason Poll.

  • Northwood was picked to finish seventh while Davenport slotted in at sixth. 

  • Grand Valley State was picked to finish first in the conference.

COACH OZTURK

  • Head Coach Bulut Ozturk is in his second season with the Huskies.

  • Under Ozturk, the Huskies have gone from a 5-10-1 record in 2019 to a 5-4-1 record last season.

  • He led the Huskies to a return to the GLIAC Quarterfinals. 

  • During the regular season, Ozturk coached the Huskies to an overtime tie on the road against No. 1 ranked Grand Valley State.

LAST SEASON

  • The Huskies finished the 2021 spring season with a 5-4-1 overall record, reaching the GLIAC Quarterfinals.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

  • The Black and Gold will head to Grand Valley on Friday (Oct. 22) for a 4 p.m. kickoff. They will then return home to take on Ferris State on Sunday (Oct. 24) at noon.
