All-GLIAC Soccer Honorees Announced

MIDLAND, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team had four players earn Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition Saturday, announced by the conference office. Brooke Schauer, Neve Badalow, and Grace Shaw were all named All-GLIAC Second Team. Jesse Jacobusse also earned Honorable Mention.

Schauer (senior midfielder) scored two goals and tallied five assists for nine points for the Huskies this spring. She started all 10 games and took 12 shots with nine shots on goal. Schauer scored the game winning goal on April 9 against Northwood and also scored in the GLIAC quarterfinals against Grand Valley State. Schauer made 15 starts for the Huskies in 2019 and tied for the team lead with three assists. She also played every game in her sophomore and freshman seasons. Schauer and Shaw tied Grand Valley State's Caitie Baron for the conference lead in assists.

Badalow (sophomore defender) recorded two assists this spring and started all 10 contests. Badalow helped the Huskies hold opponents to 19 total goals (1.90 goals against per game). On offense, Badalow posted eight shot attempts. As a freshman in 2019, she scored one goal and marked one assist in 15 games (four starts) with 10 shot attempts.

Shaw (junior forward) finished second on the squad with 13 points, including four goals and five assists. She also led the team with 36 shot attempts and 15 shots on goal. In 10 starts, Shaw had one game winning goal and tied for the team lead in assists. She recorded four points against Saginaw Valley State on April 3. Shaw was named All-GLIAC Second Team for the second time in her career after earning the distinction as a freshman in 2018. Last year, Shaw played seven games and made six starts. She tied for second in scoring. 

Jacobusse (senior forward/midfielder) led the Huskies with seven goals and 15 points, including one game winning goal. She recorded two multi-goal games, one against Saginaw Valley State in the regular season, and one against Grand Valley State in the GLIAC quarterfinals. She also finished second on the team in shot attempts (36) and tied for first in shots on goal (15). In 2019, Jacobusse started all 16 games for MTU and tied for second on the team in goals. Jacobusse  scored six goals in 2018 as a sophomore.

Michigan Tech soccer finished the 2020-21 season 5-4-1 overall and qualified for the GLIAC Tournament for the first time since 2018. The Huskies fell 6-3 to defending National champion Grand Valley State in Allendale, Michigan on Tuesday. The team is expected to resume competition in fall 2021.
