Huskies 6th in NCAA Division II Regional Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Michigan Tech soccer team is ranked 6th in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region Poll, announced on Wednesday by the national office. The Huskies are one of three teams in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to crack the rankings. Grand Valley State University is ranked first in the region followed by Ashland at No. 5 and Michigan Tech at No. 6.

The Huskies enter the weekend with an overall record of 9-2-2 and are in second place in the GLIAC standings thanks to a record of 5-1-2. Michigan Tech will host Ashland on Friday at 5 p.m. at Sherman Field followed by a Sunday showdown at home against Tiffin at Noon. Friday's match against Ashland has also been designated as Copper Country Jr. Soccer Night, which will feature a poster giveaway and signings by the Tech players following the contest.

The Huskies wrapped up the road portion of 2016 regular season schedule with a 5-0 win at Lake Erie and a 0-0 tie at Walsh this past weekend. Michigan Tech went 6-0-1 away from Houghton this season and has accumulated seven total shutouts through the 13 matches.
