Women's Soccer Cruises to 7-0 Win vs. UW-Stevens Point

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Jacqueline Mielke scored four times and seven other Huskies found the score sheet to help the Michigan Tech women's soccer team roll to a 7-0 victory over UW-Stevens Point today (April 17) in an exhibition game at Sherman Field.

Marisa DeMario, Rebecca Stoffel and Kathryn Fife also found the back of the net for Tech, which wrapped up its spring season with the scrimmage.

"We're happy to get a spring game in and get to play someone else," said head coach Michelle Jacob. "I thought we did a great job to create opportunities and obviously finish on those opportunities. We learned a lot today both offensively and defensively and, while there are some things we need to work on, we're doing a lot of good things so I'm overall happy with how things went today."

The game was scoreless until Mielke notched her first goal in the 36th minute and added another four minutes later to quickly give the Huskies a 2-0 lead. DeMario got on the board to make it 3-0 in the 66th minute, and a pair of tallies after the 70-minute mark – one by Fife and another by Mielke – widened the gap to 5-0.

Mielke connected again late in the contest before Stoffel closed the scoring two minutes later.

DeMario also added an assist to the Tech attack while five other Huskies had single assists in the impressive offensive display.

Michigan Tech will begin practice again in the fall before its season opener on Sept. 2 against Winona State.
