DeMario Joins 2015 Soccer Class

HOUGHTON, Mich. — Michigan Tech added another soccer student-athlete to its 2015 class with Marisa DeMario (Grand Rapids, Mich.) recently signing a National Letter of Intent.

DeMario plays at Northview High School, where she has scored 19 or more goals each of her last three seasons. She tallied 19 goals and one assist in 2013 before following up with 20 goals     and two assists as a junior last spring. Thus far in 2015, DeMario has 20 goals and seven assists. The two-time all-conference and all-district selection for her high school team has also played for PASS Soccer Club. DeMario is also an all-state caliber bowler, winning an individual regional title as a junior.

"Marisa has had an excellent high school career scoring goals and setting up her teammates to score," said Tech coach Michelle Jacob, who begins her sixth year with the program this fall. "She has a great soccer background, and we look for her to contribute from either the front line or midfield. Her work ethic and adaptability will be a nice fit with our program."

DeMario joins Emma Davidson (New London, Wis.) Kate Dorman (Manchester, Mich.), Darby McLaurin (Cadillac, Mich.), Rachel Wall (Eagan, Minn.) and Andrea Zubke (New Berlin, Wis.) as part of Tech's 2015 incoming class.

Michigan Tech was 11-5-2 last fall with a third-place finish in the GLIAC and the program's second NCAA Tournament berth. The Huskies will open their sixth season of varsity soccer Sept. 4 at Winona State.
