Soccer Picked Second in GLIAC Preseason Poll

BAY CITY, Mich. – The Michigan Tech soccer team was picked second in the 2014 GLIAC Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Tuesday (Aug. 19). Defending national champions Grand Valley State was the top pick.

GVSU tallied 141 points, including 10 of the 13 first place votes. Tech had three first place votes and 123 points. Ohio Dominican (112), Ferris State (107), and Ashland (105) rounded out the top five.

Northern Michigan (91), Saginaw Valley State (90), Northwood (59), Findlay (59), and Walsh (45) were ranked six through 10. Tiffin (40), Lake Erie (25), and Malone (17) were at the bottom of the poll in places 11 through 13.

The Huskies play their first four games at home and begin the season on Sept. 5 against Winona State at Sherman Field. Tech hosts St. Cloud State (Sept. 7) and Minnesota-Crookston (Sept. 12) before beginning GLIAC play against NMU on Sept. 21.
