HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball season came to an end on Wednesday evening as the Huskies fell 51-49 to Parkside in the GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinal at the SDC Gym. Tech finished 15-12 overall and fourth in the GLIAC at 11-7.

"We defended really well, holding Parkside to 51," Tech coach Sam Clayton said. "We just didn't do the other part where we had to finish shots at the rim. We had a ton of fight but had some miscues late that ended up being the difference in the game.

"I think we ended up having a great year. The record didn't always reflect that, but we ended up fourth in the conference, and I wouldn't want anybody else in that locker room. It was a tough day for our six seniors, but they've made a huge impact for this program on and off the floor."

The Rangers extended a one-point halftime lead to nine in the third. Isabella Lenz got hot late in the quarter with a pair of jumpers and a three-pointer.

Tech continued to get stops and slowly chipped away at the margin, tying the game at 49 after a rebound and layup by Katelyn Meister with 2:56 on the fourth-quarter clock.

The home team had a pair of chances to take the lead but couldn't find the bottom of the net, and Chloe Van Zeeland scored the go-ahead bucket for the Rangers with 53 seconds left.

The Huskies had a chance to tie with six seconds left but missed a jumper and the Rangers got the clock to expire on their possession.

Isabella Lenz scored a game-high 13 points and Maja Kozlowska added a season-high 12.

The Huskies trailed 15-11 after the first quarter but used an 11-1 run in the second to take the lead and led by as many as six. The Rangers scored the final five points of the half to make it a one-point game.

Katelyn Meister scored the game's first points and added a layup early in the second to become the 30th player in program history to hit the 1,000-point mark for her career. She finished the game with eight points and was honored after the game.

Parkside advanced to the GLIAC Semifinal on Saturday and will play top seed and host Grand Valley State. Ferris State and Northern Michigan will play in the other semifinal.
