HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team concludes the regular season at the SDC Gymnasium, welcoming Davenport and No. 2 Grand Valley State on Thursday & Saturday.

Tech's six seniors will be honored between games on Saturday for Senior Day.

About the Panthers

Davenport enters the final weekend of the regular season with an overall record of 3-23 and 1-15 in the loop. The Panthers are on a 10-game losing streak, most recently falling to Lake Superior State (57-53) and No. 10 Ferris State (84-63).

Lillee Gustafson has racked up eight double-doubles and leads the Panthers with 10.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per outing. She is the GLIAC leader in offensive rebounds this season, averaging 3.2 per outing while the Panthers average over 10 as a team, which ranks third in the league.

Ellie Toney and Isabel Lindo have scored over 200 points for the Panthers and chip in 8.8 and 8.7 points per game, respectively. 

The Huskies won its first meeting against the Panthers 59-51 on Jan. 6.

About the Lakers

No. 2 Grand Valley State is on a nine-game win streak entering the final weekend of the regular season, holding an overall record of 24-2 and 15-1 in the league. Most Recently, the Lakers swept at home to be 15-0 at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena for the regular season.

The Lakers are atop the GLIAC in 14 team statistical categories, notably having the deepest bench in the league, seeing over 30 points per game come from the reserve, while forcing over 19 turnovers a game while producing 76 points an outing.

GVSU has two players averaging double-figure scoring, led by Rylie Bisballe (12.4) and Ellie Droste (11.7). Additionally, four players average over 8.2 points a game, displaying one of the deepest teams in the country. 

The Lakers last trip to the SDC Gymnasium ended on a buzzer-beater by Isabella Lenz to upset then No. 4 GVSU 57-56.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech is fresh off its first road weekend sweep of the season, coming on the final GLIAC road trip of the season with wins over Wayne State (95-75) and Saginaw Valley (70-58) to hold an overall record of 14-10 and a GLIAC ledger of 10-6.

With two games left in the regular season, the Huskies reside as a four-seed with the potential to host the first round of the GLIAC tournament.

MTU put together its best weekend of the season, with a record-breaking win at Wayne State on Thursday, seeing the Huskies shoot absolute lights out to break the single-game best field goal percentage (73.5), shooting 36-for-49 from the field. Additionally, Tech shot 70.8 percent from beyond the arc to break the best 3-point field goal percentage of 66.7 while making a new record 17 3-point field goals made.

Emma Anderson (22 points) and Tessa Leece (18 points) scored career-highs, each making four 3-pointers. Alex Rondorf scored an eye-opening five 3-pointers, going 5-for-6 from deep to score 15 points. Maja Kozlowska scored a new career-high with 10 points while getting five blocks.

The Huskies high-shooting percentage continued into Saturday, shooting 51.1 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point range. Isabella Lenz set a new career-high with 23 points on 9-for-15 from the field to lead all scorers.

Lenz leads the Huskies with 12.9 points as Rondorf grabs a team-leading 6.8 rebounds per game.

One Last Thing

Michigan Tech's six seniors Sara Dax, Mady Draak, Tessa Leece, Katelyn Meister, Alex Rondorf and Lydia Schaible have played 562 games and combined for 3,362 total points. Rondorf is officially on 1k point watch, entering the final weekend of the regular season with 997 points.
