HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Michigan Tech women's basketball team takes to the road for its final conference road weekend of the regular season, facing Wayne State on Thursday and Saginaw Valley Saturday.

About the Warriors

Wayne State welcomes Michigan Tech with an overall record of 16-8 and an in-conference standing of 9-6. The Warriors have been trending upwards, playing to a 5-3 record in its last eight games, nearly taking down then No. 4 ranked GVSU back on Feb. 8, falling 63-62.

WSU most recently split a weekend of conference matches, handling LSSU 88-49 on Thursday before falling 74-64 at No. 4 Ferris State on Saturday. 

Wayne State has one of the deepest rosters in the league, seeing 26.5 points coming from the Warriors bench, which ranks third in the GLIAC and 26th nationally. 

Shea Tripp does it all for the Warriors, leading the team in points (12.7), rebounds (6.7) and steals (2.5) while also averaging three assists an outing. Gabi Lutchka joins Tripp as the other double-figure scorer, chipping in 11.6 points of the team's 71.4 points per game.

The Huskies fell to the Warriors 61-42 in the first meeting of the season on Dec. 9. 

About the Cardinals

Saginaw Valley State holds an overall record of 9-16 and a 6-9 conference record, most recently pulling off a weekend sweep, stunning No. 4 Ferris State in a 47-44 victory Thursday before squeaking past LSSU 69-61 on Saturday.

Aleshia Jones posts a team-leading 13.3 points and 4.4 rebounds, with Victoria Stafford shooting 50.8 percent from the field for 9.6 points a game.

SVSU averages over 10 steals a game, ranking third in the league, with Lydia Meredith and Aleshia Jones having the active hands, each averaging over two pickpockets an outing. Meredith's 2.4 steals a game ranks second in the league and 65th nationally.

Tech bested the Cardinals 56-51 in the first meeting of the season.

About the Huskies

Michigan Tech takes to the road for the final time of the regular season with a record of 12-10 overall and a GLIAC ledger of 8-6. Most recently, the Huskies suffered a Saturday setback, falling 70-45 at home to Northern Michigan.

Emma Anderson earned her first career start on Saturday, while Maja Kozlowska accounted for a career-high 10 points to go with four rebounds. Katelyn Meister posted her 14th double-figure scoring game of the season with her team-leading 14 points.

Isabella Lenz remains the team's offensive spark with a team-leading 12.5 points and 3.6 assists per game. The Prescott, Wisconsin, native plays 34.5 minutes per game to lead the league along with the best free-throw percentage in the GLIAC (89 percent) while making 73 free-throws this season.

Katelyn Meister joins Lenz in double-figure scoring with 11 points while grabbing six rebounds an outing. Alex Rondorf adds 8.8 points while leading the Huskies with 6.8 rebounds per outing.

The Huskies are 4-3 in GLIAC road games this season.
